Flight Lessons

Our baby swallows are having flight lessons on the kennel fence this weekend! Mom
and Dad aren't too thrilled with us or the dogs..but they stay put anyway! Swallows are my very favorite bird. Joy in flight.

End of a Quiet Day

 It's been a hazy quiet weekend. Did I say "hazy" or " Lazy'?! Maybe a little of both! Had a lovely lunch with daughter and dinner with friends later. Laughed ourselves sick at the creativity of the wait staff who were subtly trying to get us to LEAVE  after we had finished dinner. Truthfully we had talked for some time but it's so hard to leave when you are having fun! When they offered us bags to carry our take out containers in.. we gave up and giggled all the way to the car.
Thought I would include a few of our latest auction finds ..( can you spell Downsize?! Neither can we!)

Summer Mornings

When I was a very small child I used to sleep sometimes with my great Aunt downstairs and if I woke early I would always find her sitting in the rocker by the window. Being small I would climb into her lap curious what she found so fascinating out the window when i really l didn't SEE anything...
 This morning I am sitting in the computer chair in front of the window..it's a beautiful cool summer morning and I
realize now it isn't what she saw but what she felt. She missed her husband terribly. He died not long after I was born. There must have been peace and beauty  out that window. Innocence..a child in your arms,,rabbits on the lawn, Birds busy with their families. Farms that were no longer there..people..but beautiful and quiet and a soft place to reminisce .  I can almost still feel the softness of her

My dad..Fathers Day is Bittersweet

My dad has been gone since 1990. I have missed him every day since. He was not a perfect man but I loved him anyway! Happy Fathers Day Dad and I hope you have finally found Peace and Happiness

Summer in Vermont

Well the heat has finally arrived WITH sun! It has been a really odd summer so far.
We have had lightning bugs since April! Even on the cooler nights! You can look out of our bedroom window some nights and it looks like the sky has fallen..little twinkly stars all over the ground...

shopping for a wedding gown

Spent a lovely evening with my grandsons wife shopping for her wedding gown. They intend to renew their vows after his deployment to Afghanistan ends, on their 5th wedding anniversary. The first wedding was a simple affair and this time it will be a more traditional one. She's going to be a beautiful bride and shopping for gowns was fun. Having said that i can say the personal trauma of spending the evening with a lovely young girl who considers herself "FAT" may take awhile to get over! I am
I acknowledge overweight,,and the full length mirrors in any store are enough reality on their own. How do we teach our children to hate themselves sooo thoroughly? It's just sad . When did the standard for beauty become a size zero? ( and by the way HOW can that BE a size?!)

Auction find!

 Okay so we are supposed to be downsizing (uh huh) and my DH wanted to go to an auction the last two weekends.... Knowing that we are trouble together with bidding paddles in our hands..I still agreed. This is my "find" of the day! I refrained from buying another small desk or  wash tub. ( I did buy more vintage slips and dresses for bears tho) . Terry had a lamp thing going on...he bought a lot of 6? lamps..good price! very pretty but definitely NOT downsizing!  Oh but the fun of the hunt! And its made by a Vermont Artist..how could I resist?

baby has flown the nest!

Our baby robin has flown the nest! I took this picture just 2 days ago , they grow so fast don't they?:)  Have a firm date to get together with my "peeps" :) ! Can't wait ! Lunch with the girls!  Have much to catch up on everyone has been busy! Donna (Bjerke) had a house fire so they have been cleaning and reparing. Everyone is fine..dogs and cat too! but alot of smoke and damage around the chimney. Barb ( Patnode)  is busy with the kids graduating ,,she works at UVM and they have a camp in NY. Jill ( Kenny) is always busy doing something! Whether its her latest art endeavor or fostering dogs! Nancy (Edmunds) just lives the farthest away. And with family and work and her talented husband Chris ( Edmunds/painter) Never see her enough!
